"Save Me, O God..."

Psa. 69:1-3

  1. Save me, O God; for the waters are come in unto my soul
  2. I sink in deep mire, where there is no standing: I am come into deep waters, where the floods overflow me.
  3. I am weary of my crying: my throat is dried: mine eyes fail while I wait for my God.

Commentary

There are times when the servant of God is thrust out into deep water, and finds that in order to keep from drowning, he must learn a deeper trust than he has ever known. We may think that our situation is one of pointless suffering, but God has promised that He knows his plans for us, and they are good, not evil (Jer. 29:11). Paul admonishes us, "Be not weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap if we faint not" (Gal. 6:9). So we press on in obedience to Him who bought us at the cost of his own life, trusting in his unfathomable love and wisdom.
