"Unto Thee Will I Sing With The Harp..."

Psa. 71:22-24

  1. ... unto thee will I sing with the harp, O thou Holy One of Israel.
  2. My lips shall greatly rejoice when I sing unto thee; and my soul, which thou hast redeemed.
  3. My tongue also shall talk of thy righteousness all the day long ...

Commentary

The more we grow to know God, the more we realize that every blessing in our lives, whether large or small, is a reflection of his care, and the more we are overwhelmed by his love. Martha, who lent her voice to the first thirty Scripture songs on this website before she went to be with Jesus, understood this truth well. Despite living as a semi-invalid in frequent pain, she maintained a humble and grateful attitude to the end. Her voice did sing to God, her lips did rejoice, and she did talk of Him all the day long. Her entire life was an expression of gratitude - she was grateful for her redemption, and consequently grateful for even the smallest blessings from the Redeemer's hand.

When we truly realize how good God is and begin to appreciate all He has done for us, praising Him and talking of his works no longer seems like an obligation - it becomes a joy and a privilege.
